You won’t want to miss some of the best and brightest cabaret talent from across Queensland, as they compete tonight for a chance to win the ultimate career launching prize package!
In its 11th year, the Your Theatrics International Cabaret Contest (YTICC) will see Queensland contestants Julie Beard, Toni Brokenshire, Adam Flower, James Halloran, Rachel Head, Bobbie-Jean Henning, Louise Kennedy, Steve MacKay, Dana Musil, Jessica Papst, Nicole Power, Belinda Raisin, Belinda Hanne-Reid and Marcus Skeggs take to the stage tonight at Brisbane Powerhouse, to compete in the biggest cabaret contest in Australasia.
Only a handful of acts from each city will be selected to compete in the Grand Final event at The Basement in Sydney on Friday 17 January. Featuring performances from finalists from all five cities, the finals will be judged by Adelaide Cabaret Festival Producer Torben Brookman, Long Weekend Festival artistic director Ian MacKellar, entertainment producer at Sydney’s Slide Lounge Jeremy Brennan, Ballarat Cabaret Festival director Graeme Russell and Tasmanian Cabaret Festival artistic director Paul Kopperman. The Grand Final will also include performances from Sheridan Harbridge, Bradley McCaw, Toby Francis and cabaret superstar Trevor Ashley.
Winners of the Queensland heat will join Sydney heat winners Melody Beck, Sarah Gaul, Brendan Hay and Monique Salle in the Grand Final.
One lucky performer will ultimately win a HUGE prize package, including a fully produced tour of their newly devised solo show touring to seven Music Festivals across Australia and New York. The prize package includes mentorship from a prominent industry figure, flights and accommodation, plus $1000 cash, a photographic package, and a website for their show.
