The Boys Next Door: special offer for foster carers

The Brisbane Arts Theatre, Queensland’s oldest running community theatre group, is extending the hand of thanks and friendship to another community group — Foster & Kinship Carers.

As a part of Foster & Kinship Carers Week (4—10 March 2012), The Brisbane Arts Theatre are giving away 150 free tickets to the preview performance of The Boys Next Door by Tom Griffin (opening 10th March), to Foster Carers in Brisbane.

Artistic Director John Boyce says “This is just a small way we can contribute to thanking the endless work of community organisations and volunteers, much like our own members. We would not survive without the work of our volunteers, and we know that it is the same situation for other organisations in Queensland.”

Director Shaun King says, “Not only can we give back to these “unsung heroes” in our community, this is a wonderful opportunity for the Cast & Crew to have a live audience prior to the Opening Night, and we are so thrilled to extend this invitation.”

Arnold, Lucien, Barry and Norman have little in common – except the intellectual disabilities that have led them to life in a New England group home. Friends and family come and go, but their carer Jack remains a constant. At least for now…

Tom Griffin’s honest and humorous play shows it’s not the mind that counts, but the heart.
