TWO OF AUSTRALIA’S FINEST JAZZ MUSICIANS JOIN QUEENSLAND POPS ORCHESTRA IN
‘MUSIC TO SWING BY’
Hot on the heels of Warwick’s quirky country music festival, Jumpers and Jazz in July comes Music to Swing By, when Brisbane’s own Queensland Pops Orchestra presents the next concert in its 2012 program, Music To Swing By on 18 August in Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC’s) Concert Hall.
Featuring clarinet virtuoso Andy Firth and singing sensation Sarah McKenzie, Music to Swing By is a wonderful opportunity to experience a performance by this talented pair who are regarded as two of Australia’s finest jazz musicians.
Music from the 20s to the present day will set your feet tapping and your body moving with the fabulous sounds of the Queensland Pops Orchestra Big Band and Silver Strings conducted by Barrie Gott.
“We invite you join us and take your mind off the cares of the world as you escape to a time of great jazz music with upbeat tempos,” said Mr Gott.
“Andy Firth returns by popular demand in his third concert with the Pops and we are also delighted to have Sarah McKenzie, who is an emerging jazz talent for Australia and has just won a full scholarship to the Berklee College of Music in Boston, join us in her debut performance with the Pops.”
The enduring jazz favourites of Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw, Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald and many more will fill the QPAC Concert Hall at Music to Swing By.
